My wife and I were in the front row in front of Brian and here a few observations:

They had a hard stop at 9:30 to clear the place and get ready for the STP show. There was a digital clock taped to the wall that Scott kept looking at to make sure they were on track. It fell at one point and he had to get someone to tape it up again.

There was a fence between the crowd and the stage which kept everyone back about 4-5 feet. Not sure if this is the norm at the Gramercy or if it was there for the STP show. There were 2 camera guys in this area who seemed to be rehearsing for the STP show because they didn't record any full songs, as far as I could tell, and they were talking to each other a lot. They weren't shy about putting the camera in Scott's face and, assuming they were just practicing and Scott knew that, it was probably annoying or at least distracting (it was to me).

The crowd was mixed and many, especially those up in front, didn't seem to know Ham Fisted.

The marquee out front said "An Evening with Stone Temple Pilots". Several people yelled out "Stone Temple Pilots suck" during the show and toward the end Scott thanked STP for making sure this show didn't get canceled. The show was pretty well attended and I wonder if some people bought tickets in hopes that they could stay for the STP show...

This was the last show I could see on this tour so I got 2 HFs (Lancaster, NYC) and 1 HCTZ (Philly). Not what I was hoping to hear at all but I enjoyed every show and have even more respect for Scott & Brian for what they give each night. The Kinch guys helped out a lot too so I bought their cd as a show of appreciation even though I usually missed their sets.

Final note: I didn't buy my tickets in advance so when the lady at the ticket counter told me they were $21 (I thought they were only $15) I joked and asked if they came with a free pair of STP tickets. She said no but she does have 1 last pair to sell. There was a corporate customer who couldn't make it so they had permission to sell the tickets. I bought them and was psyched to see both shows. They cleared the theater in between shows and even though I told them I had tickets for STP I had to go to the back of the line. This would ultimately mean I was in the back row of seats in the theater in stark contrast to the front row for Local H. The STP show was just OK and after seeing Local H play 3 shows since Saturday it made me appreciate them even more (and maybe even ruined the STP show for me). Weiland's on-stage preening and Jagger imitation got old quickly and it was just a "performance". Local H gives so much more energy during each show which bands like STP could learn a lot from.

i thought it was great, but deciding to tape from the center floor was a bad idea towards "strict-9" when the pit hit me a few times in my back and i almost got knocked over. scott did his best, but i could tell his voice was suffering in philly and it was worse last night in nyc and ham fisted got picked - so i was kinda hoping against that record just to give him a break. he still gave it his all, tho. hopefully hes drinking a lot of hot tea today so he'll be ok for allston.

wolf life me at the end was pretty cool to see, as it was philly,

That pissed me off. I hope the crowd was more into it in the back, because the front was clueless.

HAM FISTED again?? Damn, now I'm sorry I didn't go. Unfortunately I was totally wiped out from the drive home from Philly. At least I got to see HF in Lancaster.

It's likely now that I won't be heading to Syracuse. Looks like I'll have to work on Friday. :-(

Cheers...

specifically:

But it was all done in the glow of the big red clock the stage crew had gaffer-taped to the wall; it was all done in front of a pair of pro cameramen who, while preparing to tape a Stone Temple Pilots DVD or whatever, used Local H's set to test equipment and warm themselves up.

any chance of this being distributed, does anyone know who the company is, or have any contacts within the company?

I didn't get the feeling they were recording Local H's set. The cameramen were starting and stopping, finding angles, stretching and getting used to moving with their gear. There was also a large camera at the back. Some folks were saying that STP were going to be doing a live feed to Jimmy Kimmel from their show last night, and that's what the cameras were for, but I think Kimmel was a rerun.

although ham fisted is probably one of my least favorite, i must say Brian KILLED it last night. fucking guy is an unbelievable drummer. He pushes himself to the point of exhaustion all without missing a beat, truly admirable.

As always...thanks for taping!

They mentioned they were rushed, but we still got a 90min Local H show with some funny banter...pretty much what we expect, right?

Personally I was very happy to hear HF... lots of songs I have not hear before live. Seemed like they jammed out "skid marks" a bit but I have not listened to HF for a while so maybe not. Also, the theater was packed! Great show for an early show!

Late to the party due to being locked out for a while...but I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I was in the back and from what I saw it seemed that it was pretty much 50/50 between people who knew HF and those that didn't. There were people near me that stood still with their arms crossed until the "encore", then went bullshit for ATKAR.

Personally, HF is the record I wanted to hear - 100%, no doubt. I hadn't seen a lot of those songs played live since the 90's, so I thought it would be cool to see them again since I might never see them live again. My wife wanted PUTC first, and if not that she wanted HCTZ. She was pretty disappointed when HF got pulled, but she was happy for me because she knew that was what I wanted to hear. HF is the only H album she doesn't know front-to-back, not sure why.

The show was great. A few wrong lyrics and chords, but that's what I love about a live show. It's like K. Cobain said in an interview on the "...Sold Out!" dvd, music can be great if it's a little sloppy, as long as it has passion. Scott definitely plays every song with a great deal of passion, and you can't ask for anything more than that. And I think it's cool when he starts to sing the 2nd verse of a song instead of the 1st accidentally, shows that he's human and that at least these songs aren't mundane where he can rattle them off in his sleep like he can probably do with BFTF.

I was a little worried about the time with the STP show, but we managed to get a complete set. It was really cool of Scott to make sure we got as many songs crammed into 90 minutes as possible. The clock on the wall seemed a little ridiculous. They could've just flashed a light at him or given him some signal when it was getting close to 9:30.

And, of course, thanks to cabbage for taping!
