Harvey Danger - Dead Sea Scrolls

Postby schlitsz » Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:48 am

I know this one is tough to come by. I never download music for free unless the artist offers it on their website or something like that. But after almost a year of waiting and no way to purchase a copy of this album, I was able to find a torrent for it. If it ever is made available for sale I will gladly by a copy.

Anyway...

If anyone else has it or has heard it, what are your thoughts on it? I know it's old news for people that were able to get them at the farewell shows. But it's new to me since I just was able to "obtain" a pirated copy last week.

A lot of it I either have had or at least heard before. But from the songs I didn't already know, I really like Cold Snap, Pity & Fear, the demo of Diminishing Returns that sounds nothing like the album version and the demo of You Look So Happy. The cover of Maneater is also pretty good, actually. And I really like the cover of Louisiana, 1927. I know everyone seems to have a hard on for Defrocked and, while I like it, I would put the ones I listed above ahead of it. Also, Big Wide Empty didn't hit me the same way it appeared to hit others. It's good, but same as Defrocked, behind the others if I were to rate the songs.

Although I think that it sucks that I had to stoop to getting this illegaly, I'm glad I finally at least got some version of it so I can listen to it. Overall it's really good and it's always cool to hear stuff that you've never heard before of course, even if it is a demo of a song that's on one of their albums.

I stood in line and bought sixteen copies of this when it came out. I wish I still had them.

I wanted to get out to the Brooklyn show so badly so I could pick up a copy, but it didn't work out. I didn't post enough on the HD board enough (I registered but not sure I ever posted anything, actually) to warrant begging other people to pick me up a copy, imo. I got a pm from Aaron saying it would be available in some format in the future, but that was about 10 months ago. I would love to see a limited run of these show up on their site or something. I'm glad I finally got to hear it, but I'd rather have a legal copy.

you got it....I would've thrown it up earlier but I didn't know anyone besides Dewey wanted it and he wants lossless files, which these unfortunately are not.
